About
When my daughter expressed an interest in sculpting with clay, we decided to take lessons from a local pottery club. I discovered that I loved throwing on the potters wheel. My husband blessed me with a wheel I could use at home and from here was able to relax and enjoy creating. A used kiln came up for sale and that enabled me to learn and discover the joy of trying new glaze recipes and having the control of my own kiln. I love bright beautiful colours, the beauty of God’s bountiful creation. The yellows and oranges remind me of our bright Saskatchewan sunrises and sunsets. I was inspired to hand paint pottery mugs displaying the history of the old red grain elevators, our graceful tiger lilies, and delightful sunflowers.
Today’s science has enabled the creation of bright colour pigments that are safe for the potter to use. The clay is commercially developed by Plainsman Clays Canada and comes from our Prairie soils. Together the clay and glazes are made to be food safe, microwave safe, oven safe and dishwasher safe, unless otherwise stated.
Each piece is hand made on the potters wheel or hand built and crafted with care. Displayed are a few of my creations. With every new piece I am still learning and discovering the joy and surprises of pottery. Custom orders are welcome.
